Abstract
Bahr is a personal documentary essay that probes the silences surrounding war and trauma in the protagonist's family and country.
Thirty years after the end of the civil war in Lebanon, thrusted by the October 17 revolution, the youth seeks a reconciliation while struggling to apply the past's lessons in a similarly painful present.
The short documentary follows the conversation between the protagonist/narrator who was born after the war, and her mom who lived it. The latter is resistant to talk about the past and her lingering trauma.
The documentary is accompanied by a website that includes:
- a map with relevant locations in Beirut,
- three Q&As with a psychotherapist, a professor of transitional justice, and a political activist and psychologist.
