Description

This proposal was written by Candido de Leon for the Board of Higher Education in New York City. The April 1968 proposal demonstrates the need for a new community college in the South Bronx and outlines its general structure. Originally planned to open in fall 1969 the college eventually opened in September 1970. Candido de Leon was later the second president of Hostos Community College, as Community College Number Eight came to be known. The college was designed to offer a broad range of health and social service programs. The document includes tables indicating project financial costs.
