Abstract
After prewriting and before submitting the first draft of their literary analysis essay on a short story, students are required to submit a drafted outline for their essay. This is a low-stakes, scaffolded assignment that allows students to practice structuring their arguments and gathering textual evidence. As with all my assignments, I include an example.
