Abstract

An analysis of Kafka's The Trial using the lens of Plato's Republic to re-analyze the character arc of Joseph K. What exactly does Kafka mean when he has K. die "like a dog"? Is it possible to see the ending as hopeful or optimistic rather than bleak?
