Abstract

En el español actual existen variedades que exhiben un sistema tripartito compuesto por las formas de tratamiento tú, usted y vosque abreviamos FTt, FTv, FTu. En Colombia se muestra una variación mayor en el uso de estas formas de tratamiento. En este estudio se examinan las formas de tratamiento en el español que se habla en Buga, Colombia, particularmente las variables sociolingüísticas externas e internas que influyen en el uso de la FTu y la FTv. Los datos para el presente trabajo fueron recogidos a través de grabaciones de emisiones de habla espontánea y real. El Paquete Estadístico y data para las Ciencias Sociales SPSS y el Paquete Estadístico Stata, se utilizaron para analizar los datos generados por las emisiones y se produjeron tablas de frecuencias y tablas de contingencia en las cuales se examinó la relación entre el uso de las formas de tratamiento y la edad, el género, la educación y el estatus socioeconómico de los participantes. También se examinó la relación entre diversas variables lingüísticas internas y el uso de las formas de tratamiento.

Las preguntas de investigación fueron:

  1. ¿Cuáles son las variables sociales y lingüísticas que más influyen en el uso de las FT en Buga?
  2. ¿Cuáles son los factores sociales y lingüísticos que más influyen en el uso de las FT en Buga?
  3. ¿Cuáles son las implicaciones teóricas de los datos recogidos en Buga? ¿Apoyan estos resultados los modelos teóricos expuestos en el presente trabajo o sugieren modificaciones? ¿Hasta qué punto la selección de las FT en Buga, Colombia es regida por los factores de poder y solidaridad? ¿Hasta qué punto la selección de las FT en Buga es regida por los criterios de la cortesía expuestos por Brown y Levinson?
  4. ¿Los resultados del uso de la FTu en Buga, Colombia, son similares a la creencia sobre la norma latinoamericana de que su uso es simplemente más formal?

Los hallazgos de este estudio son los siguientes: (1) La FTu es el habla en su mayoría de las personas con menor poder social para dirigirse a sus interlocutores. En general, influenciada por las actitudes del hablante. (2) La FTv es el habla en su mayoría de las personas con mayor poder social para dirigirse a sus interlocutores. En general, influenciada por las actitudes del hablante.

Finalmente, este trabajo doctoral contribuye al conocimiento de la variación sociolingüística de las formas de tratamiento en español que se habla en Colombia.

In Spanish there are varieties that exhibit a tripartite system composed of the forms of address, tú, vos, usted that we abbreviate FTt, FTv, FTu. In Colombia, there is a greater variation in the use of these forms of address. In this study we examine the forms of address in the Spanish language spoken in Buga, Colombia, in particular the sociolinguistic variables, external and internal that influence the use of the FTu and the FTv. The data for the present work were colleted through recordings of spontaneous and real speech emissions. The statistical package and the data for the social sciences SPSS and the statistical package stata were used to analyze the data generated by the emissions and frequency tables and contingency tables were produced in which we examine the relationship between the use of the forms of address and age, gender, education and socioeconomic status of the participants. The relationships between internal linguistic variables and the use of forms of address are also examined. The research questions were: 1. What are the social and linguistic variables that most influence the use of the FT in Buga? 2. What are the social and linguistic factors that most influence the use of FT in Buga? 3. What are the theoretical implications of the collected data in Buga? Do these results support the theoretical models found? To what extent is the selection of FT in Buga, Colombia governed by the concepts of power and solidarity expressed by Brown and Gilman? To what extent is the selection of FT in Buga governed by the concept of cortesy expressed by Brown y Levinson? 4. Are the results of the use of the FTu in Buga, Colombia, similar to the believe in Latin American that in Colombia the FTu is simply more formal? The findings of this study are the following: (1) The FTu is the speech of the majority of people with less social power to address their interlocutors. In general, influenced by the attitudes of the speaker. (2) The FTv is the speech, in its majority, of the people with the greatest social power to address their interlocutors. In general, influenced by the attitudes of the speaker. Finally, this work has contributed to the knowledge of the sociolinguistic variation of the forms of address in the Spanish spoken in Colombia.
