Abstract
Abstract: This project uses a range of media to explore and document the South African land crisis at a controversial and historic turning point: as the country considers whether to legalize “expropriation of land without compensation”. The narrative piece tells the story of a South African man whose parents were robbed of their land. Now, as the country wrestles yet again with apartheid's aftermath, he is out to get to it back. Photographs complement to narrative piece. The documentary contrasts this subject’s perspective with the perspective of a white commercial farmer, whose land may be at risk if the country legalizes ‘expropriation without compensation’.
