Abstract
Exploring information and advocacy needs in The South Bronx.
The Bronx is one of the most poorest districts in the whole country. It is also severely neglected by city agencies compared to other boroughs in New York City. Often Bronxites are left to fend for themselves. But they never crumble in this crucible of music and culture.
My project used performance and cultural education to connect with South Bronx communities and understand their advocacy needs. This was executed through a multi-pronged approach, done in collaboration with The Bronx Music Heritage Center. and their parent organization, WHEDCO (Women's Housing and Economic Development Corp) I used three approaches to accomplish this.
