Abstract
A growing number of New York’s cannabis entrepreneurs once excited to get in on the ground floor of a lucrative industry have been pivoting away from their initial dream: instead of selling weed, they are selling stakes in their hard-won cannabis retail licenses in deals that leave them with little control over the businesses they hoped to launch.
This piece explores the burgeoning market for buying and selling cannabis licenses, and how the plummeting of that market puts justice-affiliated applicants at a particular disadvantage.
