Abstract
As a proud Somalilander, I always wondered why Somaliland was never known by anyone. A lot of people know or at least heard about Somalia from movies and geopolitics but never Somaliland. Somaliland is one of the largest countries in the world that is unrecognized by the United Nations. They cannot participate in international relations, meaning they cannot establish diplomatic ties, access international organizations and money transfers, negotiate trade deals, or receive foreign aid. But the question is why? Let’s take a closer look and learn more about Somaliland.
