Abstract
Over the last two years, more than 200,000 asylum seekers have arrived in New York City, a large number being from Venezuela. Since their arrival, the frequent moves between shelters and the ongoing job search have added significant stress to their mental health, compounding the trauma of migration. This is where the need for mental health services becomes crucial, particularly for those who already carried trauma from the economic and political crises in Venezuela before migrating. Rosa Bramble Caballero, co-founder of Venezuelan Alliance, leads one of the few non-profit organizations in Woodside, Queens, New York that offers free mental health services to Venezuelan asylum seekers.
