Abstract
The project is about Chinese Au Pairs in America. The U.S. State Department’s au pair program brings roughly 20 thousand young adults into the country every year under the banner of cultural exchange. New York, as a hot spot, receives around 2 thousand au pairs. But in reality, many work as low-wage, live-in childcare providers with limited rights and protections.
This 8-9-minute in-depth feature reporting will reveal how these Chinese au pairs came to America, how they pursued their dreams, and the sacrifices they made.
