Abstract

This collaborative reading assignment created by Professor Penny Geyer was created as part of a seminar on Active Learning using OERs in 2025. The assignment uses the social annotation tool, Perusall, to transform a traditional reading assignment into an active learning exercise that encourages close reading, peer engagement and structured discussion of the foundational text, "Broken Windows" by James Wilson and George Kelling.
