Abstract

This assignment directs students to critically examine how public historical narratives regarding Texas annexation, the U.S.-Mexico War, and U.S. expansionism are organized and presented on Wikipedia. Students are required to read assigned Wikipedia sections and review associated Talk pages to identify editorial debates surrounding terminology, neutrality, organization, and historical interpretation. Applying the principles of the Wikipedia Five Pillars, students must write a two-to-three-page analytical response and formulate an evidence-based "Wikipedia Intervention" that proposes constructive improvements to the collaborative digital platform.
