Abstract
This 3-page essay (400-500 words) assignment builds upon the visual analysis skills students will develop in their Art 106 Introduction to Modern and Contemporary Art class. Students visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art together and choose a work to study carefully using a close looking protocol guide which is submitted as a key component of their assignment requirements. Completed essays will be added to the Art 106 at the Met Open Lab project, a gallery guide for the 19th century French art galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
