Abstract
Embracing the radical notion proposed by Jacque Rancière in his book The Ignorant Schoolmaster, that one can teach what one does not know, this thesis attempts to simultaneously elucidate and discover an answer to the fundamental question 'What is art/Art?'. This answer is elusive with a slippery center ever withdrawing from grasp. Using a bricolage assembled from bits and scraps pulled from the general clutter of my collected-thus-far knowledge, I attempt to bracket the fundamental essence of the question in order to better understand it. Maybe my structure is leaking.
