Abstract
Tryptamines are psychedelic drugs that cause an individual to undergo hallucinogenic effects such as the distortion of time and space and loss of reality. Psilocybin, a classic hallucinogenic, is a Schedule I drug that has recently been given more leeway regarding research for therapeutic use. With the rise of psychedelics comes more tryptamine-designer drugs on the market and their potential misuse and diversion. This study aimed to develop and validate a method for the determination of six tryptamines and metabolites— psilocin, psilocybin, psilacetin, 4-propionoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, 4-methyl carbonate-N,N-dipropyltryptamine, and 4-hydroxy-N, N-dipropyltryptamine-in plasma by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.
