Abstract

This in-person course is designed to build a strong foundation in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish while fostering cultural and intercultural competence. Guided by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, students will engage in basic spontaneous and rehearsed spoken and written communication on familiar topics, interpret multimodal texts related to everyday life, and express meaning in personally relevant contexts. The course emphasizes the exploration of practices, products, and perspectives from the Spanish-speaking world, including local Hispanic and Latinx communities, while encouraging reflection on individual language learning processes and the development of translingual and transcultural competences using digital tools and authentic resources. The course will be taught in Spanish.
