Abstract
These lecture notes are designed to provide the students who wish to become familiar with the basic concepts and methods of the Fractional Calculus (FC). The following features can be pointed out: This text is prepared to be easily read and understood by students making their first steps into this topic. The lecture notes do not presume a background beyond standard college calculus curricula. Readers needing extra help will find tools for bringing their mathematical maturity up in the references and companion links; The writing style is aimed to be direct and pragmatic. Precise mathematical language is used without excessive formalism and abstraction; All definitions and theorems are stated carefully so that students will appreciate the precision of language and rigor needed in mathematics; Twenty two examples are used to illustrate concepts and applications. Ninety two exercises are provided. The exercises are carefully graded for the level of difficulty. A list of suggested readings is offered after the References. These readings include books and journal articles in which discoveries were originally published. Some of these publications are classics, published many years ago, while others have been published in the last few years. The major goal of the lecture notes is to reveal that mathematics can be when looked at in the right way-useful, beautiful and accessible.
